Getting started

New here, or not sure which Stealthy to use.

What's free, and what needs PRO?

Free, no account: the browser extensions for Chrome/Edge/Opera and Firefox, and the web proxy. Both route your browsing through our servers so sites see our IP, not yours.

PRO ($4.99/mo billed yearly, $9.99 monthly): full-device VPN in the US, UK, Germany and Japan via the official OpenVPN apps, unlimited bandwidth, network-level ad and tracker blocking, and dedicated servers instead of shared free ones — on every device you own.

Compare plans

Extension, web proxy, or VPN — which one do I want?
  • Web proxy — fastest possible start. Nothing to install; only the pages you open inside it are proxied.
  • Browser extension — one click, and everything in that browser goes through Stealthy.
  • PRO VPN — everything on the whole device (apps included), encrypted, with a country of your choice.

Many people use the extension day to day and turn on the VPN for public Wi-Fi.

How do I install the browser extension?

Install from your browser's official store — Chrome, Edge or Opera, or Firefox. Pin the icon, click it, pick a server, and you're proxied. Edge and Opera use the Chrome Web Store version; both support Chrome extensions natively.

PRO subscribers: open the extension's options and sign in with your PRO login to unlock the dedicated servers.

Do I need an account to use Stealthy?

No — the web proxy and the extensions' free servers work with no signup at all. An account only exists once you subscribe to PRO, and it's created automatically when your payment goes through.

Account & password

One PRO login works for the VPN, the extensions, and your account page.

I forgot my password / my login stopped working

Reset it yourself in under a minute — no need to contact anyone:

  1. Open stealthy.co/account/reset.
  2. Enter your username or the email address you subscribed with.
  3. Click the link in the email we send. It works once and expires after 30 minutes.
  4. Choose a new password (at least 8 characters), then update it in your OpenVPN app and the extension.

Send me a reset link

The reset email never arrived
  • Check spam/junk and any "Promotions" tab — it comes from [email protected].
  • Make sure you entered the address you paid with (PayPal buyers: that's your PayPal email).
  • Links expire after 30 minutes and work once — if you clicked an old one, just request a fresh link.
  • Try your username instead of your email, in case the address on file differs.

Still nothing after 15 minutes? That's a genuine last-resort case — see still stuck at the bottom of this page.

How do I change my password?

Sign in at stealthy.co/account and use the Change password box. The change takes effect immediately, so update any saved logins in your OpenVPN app and the extension right after.

Changing your password also cuts off anyone else using your login — the quickest fix if you ever shared it.

What is my username? Can I sign in with my email?

Both work. Your username and the email you subscribed with are accepted everywhere you sign in — the account page, the VPN, and the extensions. Your username is shown at the top of your account page once you're signed in.

I paid but never received my login

Your account is created the moment the payment clears, and the welcome email carries a generated password. If it didn't reach you, you can still get in without waiting for us:

  1. Check spam/junk for a message from [email protected].
  2. Go to stealthy.co/account/reset and enter the email you paid with — that sets a password on the account the payment created.
  3. Sign in at stealthy.co/account to confirm your plan and renewal date.

Claim my account

Can I use one account on several devices?

Yes — one PRO subscription covers every device you personally use: phone, tablet, laptop, desktop, and the browser extensions. Same username and password everywhere; there are no licence keys or seat files to manage.

Billing & subscription

Cancelling, cards, invoices and refunds — all self-serve through the payment provider.

How do I cancel my subscription?

You cancel it yourself, and it takes effect at the end of the period you already paid for — no email required.

Paid by card (Stripe): sign in at stealthy.co/account and click Manage billing on Stripe. Cancel, change card, or download invoices there.

Paid with PayPal: cancel in PayPal → Automatic payments and look for “Stealthy”. PayPal is the only place a PayPal subscription can be stopped.

Not sure which you used? Sign in — your account page shows the right option for your subscription.

Open my billing

How do I update my card or payment method?

Card subscriptions: account pageManage billing on Stripe → update the payment method. PayPal subscriptions: change the funding source in PayPal → Automatic payments.

We never see or store your card number — Stripe and PayPal handle it end to end.

Where do I get an invoice or receipt?

Card: the Stripe billing portal (via your account) lists every invoice as a downloadable PDF. PayPal: open the transaction in your PayPal activity and print or download it there.

What does PRO cost, and is there a trial?

$9.99/month, or $4.99/month billed yearly — the yearly plan saves more than 50%. Both include a 3-day free trial and a 30-day money-back guarantee, and you can cancel anytime.

Payment is by card (Stripe) or PayPal. See the plans.

I want a refund

PRO carries a 30-day money-back guarantee. Do this first so nothing renews while it's being sorted:

  1. Cancel the subscription — Stripe portal via your account, or PayPal → Automatic payments.
  2. Then ask for the refund itself — a refund is one of the few things that genuinely needs a human, so see still stuck below and include the date and last 4 digits (card) or the PayPal transaction ID.
I was charged after cancelling, or charged twice

Almost always one of two things, and you can check both yourself in a minute:

  • Two subscriptions. Signing up once with a card and once with PayPal creates two. Check your account (card) and PayPal → Automatic payments, and cancel the one you don't want.
  • The last period. Cancelling stops the next renewal; a charge made just before it still stands and you keep access until the paid-through date shown on your account page.

If neither explains it, that's a real last-resort case — see still stuck.

My subscription expired — do I lose my account?

Your account stays; PRO access stops at the paid-through date on your account page. The free extensions and the web proxy keep working, and resubscribing on the PRO page reactivates the same login.

VPN setup & fixes

PRO VPN runs on the official OpenVPN apps. Full walkthrough: the setup guide.

Which app do I install? Why isn't there a Stealthy app?

OpenVPN Connect — the official OpenVPN client — on Windows, Mac, Android and iPhone; NetworkManager or the openvpn package on Linux. Open-source alternatives like OpenVPN for Android and Tunnelblick work just as well.

We ship no installer of our own on purpose: the OpenVPN clients are open source, audited, and maintained by people who do nothing else. Your subscription pays for the network, not for wrapper software.

Open the setup guide

What server address do I enter?

Type stealthy.co and we pick the closest location for you. For a specific country use us.stealthy.co, uk.stealthy.co, de.stealthy.co or jp.stealthy.co — add -noads (for example us-noads.stealthy.co) for the ad-blocking version.

Then sign in with your PRO username and password; the profile imports itself. Prefer files? Download any .ovpn from the setup guide.

“AUTH_FAILED” or my login is rejected by the VPN

The VPN checks your PRO login every time you connect, so this is nearly always credentials or subscription status:

  1. Sign in at stealthy.co/account. If that fails too, reset your password — that fixes it in most cases.
  2. If it signs in, check Status and Paid through. An expired or cancelled subscription is refused at connect time.
  3. Just changed your password? The OpenVPN app has cached the old one — delete the saved password in the app's profile settings and enter the new one.
  4. Retype rather than paste: a trailing space from copy-paste is a classic cause.

Check my account

It connects but nothing loads
  1. Disconnect, pick a different location (say uk.stealthy.co instead of us), and reconnect — one location can be busy or blocked on your network.
  2. Restart the OpenVPN app fully, then reconnect. On Android, re-accept the VPN permission prompt.
  3. On an ad-blocking profile, check whether the site you need depends on a blocked ad/tracker domain — try the same location without -noads.
  4. Turn off any second VPN, proxy, or "private relay" feature — two tunnels at once break each other.
The VPN feels slow
  • Pick the location nearest you — distance costs more speed than anything else.
  • Test on 5 GHz Wi-Fi or a cable; a busy 2.4 GHz network throttles the tunnel, not us.
  • Try another country: a single server can be congested at peak hours.
  • Compare against a no-VPN speed test — if both are slow, the bottleneck is your connection.

PRO bandwidth is unlimited and PRO servers aren't shared with free users.

How do I turn ad blocking on or off?

It's chosen by which profile you connect to: the -noads addresses (us-noads.stealthy.co and friends, or noads.stealthy.co for auto-pick) filter ads and trackers at the network level, before they reach your device. The plain addresses don't filter.

Import both in your OpenVPN app and switch whenever you like.

Can I run Stealthy on a router, NAS, or Apple TV?

Anything that accepts a standard OpenVPN profile works: download the .ovpn for your location from the setup guide, upload it into the device's VPN client, and use your PRO login. Devices with no OpenVPN client (Apple TV, most smart TVs) need a router or hotspot that carries the tunnel for them.

Browser extensions

One-click proxying inside Chrome, Edge, Opera, and Firefox.

The extension is on but my IP hasn't changed
  1. Toggle it off and on from the toolbar icon, then reload the page (Ctrl/Cmd+Shift+R).
  2. Check on a site like whatismyip in a fresh tab — cached pages lie.
  3. Another proxy/VPN extension will win the fight for the browser's proxy settings; disable the others.
  4. Corporate or school machines can lock proxy settings by policy — the VPN or the web proxy gets around that.
  5. Reinstall from the store if the icon shows an error state.
How do I get the PRO servers in the extension?

Open the extension's options and sign in with your PRO username and password. The dedicated PRO locations then appear alongside the free ones. Same login as the VPN and your account page.

Which browsers are supported?

Chrome, Edge and Opera install the same build from the Chrome Web Store (get it here). Firefox has its own add-on (get it here) because Firefox exposes a different proxy API. Safari isn't supported — on Mac, use the PRO VPN or the web proxy.

Why does the extension ask for broad permissions?

To route requests through a proxy, a browser extension has to be allowed to see and redirect them — that's what the proxy permission means. Settings stay in your browser's local storage; nothing about your browsing is sent to us beyond the request that asks which proxy server to use. See the privacy policy.

Web proxy

webproxy.stealthy.co — free, no install, no signup.

What is the web proxy, and what does it not cover?

Type a URL and we fetch the page through our servers and hand it back to you, so the site sees our IP. It protects only what you load inside that page — other tabs, other browsers and other apps on your device are untouched. For everything on the device, use the PRO VPN.

A site won't load or looks broken in the proxy
  1. Reload once — the first request to a heavy site can time out while it warms up.
  2. Sign-in flows (Google especially), banking, and DRM video deliberately refuse proxied browsers. That's the site's choice, not a fault at our end.
  3. Try the site's mobile or basic version, or open it in a fresh proxy tab.
  4. Still broken? The extension or the PRO VPN proxies at a lower level and handles sites the web proxy can't.
Is the web proxy really free? Any limits?

Free, no account, no time limit. It's shared infrastructure, so it's slower than PRO at busy times and isn't meant for HD streaming or big downloads — that's what PRO's unlimited-bandwidth servers are for. Ads and trackers are blocked on every request that passes through.

Can I stream video through it?

Short clips usually play. Netflix, Disney+ and similar services use DRM that will not run through a web proxy at all, and streaming platforms actively block proxy IP ranges — a device-level VPN is the right tool there.

Privacy & security

The short version. The binding text is the privacy policy.

Do you keep logs of what I do?

No browsing activity, IP addresses, DNS queries or connection timestamps are logged across the VPN servers and proxy infrastructure. The web proxy keeps short-lived technical logs for abuse prevention and capacity planning; they contain no IP address, browser identity, or pages visited, and are deleted automatically within days. Full detail in the privacy policy.

What do you know about me as a subscriber?

Your email address and subscription status — that's what runs the account. Payments are handled by Stripe or PayPal and we never see your full card number. Passwords are stored hashed, never in readable form.

What is Stealthy built on?

The PRO VPN runs on OpenVPN, using the official open-source clients. The web proxy is built on open-source projects, credited with their licences on the web proxy's credits page. We'd rather you trust audited software than take our word for it.

How do I delete my account and data?

Cancel your subscription first — account page for card, or PayPal → Automatic payments. Deleting the account record itself has to be done by a human, so send the request from the address on the account as described under still stuck.

No answers match that search.

Try a shorter word — password, cancel, refund, slow — or clear the box to see every topic. Nothing here? Write to a human.

Still stuck?

If the answer isn't above and nothing here fixed it, email [email protected] — a human reads it. Include as much of this as you can, and you'll usually get one reply instead of three:

  • Your Stealthy username or the email you subscribed with — never your password; we will never ask for it.
  • Device and app (for example “iPhone, OpenVPN Connect” or “Chrome extension”).
  • The exact error text or a screenshot.
  • Which steps from this page you already tried.
